Triathlon events worldwide have a variety of types and forms, all of them difficult and challenging. Here's my top three:
- The Hawaii Ironman World Championship - The most prestigious and difficult Ironman event world wide. This is the highlight of the Iron distance race in the triathlon world and fittingly sits at the top of the list.
- Enduroman Arch to Arc - This 289 mile race starts at the Marble Arch in London, runs 87 miles to Dover, swims 22 miles across the English Channel to Calais, and bikes 181 miles from Calais to Paris where it finishes at the Arc de Triomphe. An amazing event and accomplishment: only 6 people in history have ever completed it.
- Wildflower - Originally a Half-Ironman distance race held in May at Lake San Antonio in 1983, this annual event has expanded to include Olympic and Sprint distance events. Known for a particularly challenging hilly course, this event attracts 7500 participants and is one of the largest triathlon events in the world.
